Choosing a home simulator racing rig can be a bit of a challenge, given the available options. They range from budget entry-level setups to high-end rigs with immersive features such as force feedback steering wheels, hydraulic pedals and our own lowslider motion platforms.
Lower-priced seat-based rigs are ideal for small spaces, while full-frame rigs offer a more solid setup and come with options to adjust the height, angle, and position of seats, wheels, pedals, and so on.
A full-frame rig needs quite a bit of space, so if this is limited, a more compact or foldable configuration might be the better option.
Indeed, many home racing fans start with a low-budget rig and upgrade in stages to a seriously expensive home racing kit with immersive features like direct-drive wheels and 6-Dof motion platforms, designed to deliver real-time feedback and add an extra dimension to your sim racing experience.
Motion platforms simulate the real-life forces you would experience in an actual vehicle, from surface holes and bumps to the swings and slides in rounding tight bends at speed.
We hope these short articles will introduce you to the various aspects of sim racing and help you choose the proper rig for your needs.
